A visit to the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery will introduce children
to a wide variety of chairs dating from the late 17th to the early
20th century which form part of the Gallery's collection. All the
chairs have been placed in Victorian room settings to enable visitors
to see them in context and a visit will bring to life the online
work carried out by pupils.
A 2-hour visit by pupils will allow time for a tour of the rooms
to discuss aspects of the chairs such as style, materials, function
and technology. The children will then have plenty of time to make
sketches and/or detailed drawings of the chairs in preparation for
designing their own.
Visits can take place morning or afternoon and can be adapted to
suit your requirements.
